Treatment for Cluster Headache

Almotriptan is a selective serotonin receptor (5-HT1B/1D) agonist that binds to these receptors in cerebral blood vessels, causing vasoconstriction and inhibition of inflammatory neuropeptide release. By targeting these receptors, it reduces neurogenic inflammation and alleviates pain transmission in cluster headache, effectively mitigating headache symptoms through its vasoconstrictive and neurogenic effects.
