Treatment for Cluster Headache

Ergotamine is a vasoconstrictor and serotonin receptor agonist that acts on 5-HT1B/1D receptors in cerebral blood vessels, effectively reducing inflammation and vascular dilation associated with cluster headaches. By constricting cranial blood vessels and inhibiting neuropeptide release, ergotamine provides rapid pain relief and can help abort or reduce the severity of acute cluster headache episodes.
