medication tapering
Treatment for Cluster Headache
Cluster headache medication tapering typically involves gradually reducing dosages of prophylactic treatments such as verapamil or corticosteroids to minimize potential rebound effects and withdrawal symptoms. The medication's mechanism of action, such as calcium channel blockade or anti-inflammatory properties, is systematically reduced to allow the patient's neurological and physiological systems to adjust to decreasing pharmacological intervention while maintaining therapeutic stability.

I’d recommend tapering down rather than quitting cold turkey. The few times I’ve tried to quit cold turkey, it’s given me a throbbing headache that’s almost as bad as a migraine. Tapering down is manageable, though. Good luck!
