Treatment for Cluster Headache
Phenylephrine is an α1-adrenergic receptor agonist that causes vasoconstriction of cranial blood vessels, potentially interrupting the neurovascular mechanisms underlying cluster headache. By stimulating α1 receptors in vascular smooth muscle, it rapidly constricts dilated cerebral blood vessels and may help abort or reduce the intensity of acute cluster headache episodes.
