scopolamine
Treatment for Cluster Headache
Scopolamine is an anticholinergic drug that acts as a competitive antagonist of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, primarily targeting the M1 and M3 subtypes. In cluster headache treatment, it potentially modulates parasympathetic neural activity and neurotransmitter signaling, which may help reduce the frequency and intensity of autonomic symptoms associated with these severe headaches. Its central nervous system effects can provide symptomatic relief by disrupting cholinergic pathways involved in pain perception and autonomic dysregulation.

Zofran has dissolvable pills, and I swear by scopolamine patches, little circle sticker you put behind your ear for 3 days.

I've used scopolamine patches for the last few years, albeit for GI issues not migraines. It's been a life saver for me.

Oh man that sounds rough. I thankfully can usually get the meds down, but I 100% understand the food smells, that’s the worst. I’m assuming you’ve tried everything, but it’s not super common in the US, so I’ll throw it out there in case you haven’t. ...View more
