Triptans are selective serotonin receptor (5-HT1B/1D) agonists that constrict cranial blood vessels and inhibit neurogenic inflammation in the treatment of Cluster Headache. They effectively reduce pain by blocking pain transmission and decreasing inflammatory neuropeptide release through their central and peripheral mechanisms of action.
