tryptans
Treatment for Cluster Headache
Triptans are selective serotonin receptor (5-HT1B/1D) agonists that constrict cranial blood vessels and inhibit neurogenic inflammation in the treatment of cluster headaches. They work by binding to these receptors in cerebral vasculature and trigeminal nerve terminals, thereby reducing pain transmission and alleviating headache symptoms. While primarily used for migraine, triptans can provide rapid relief for acute cluster headache episodes by modulating serotonergic neurotransmission.
