antiarrhythmic medication
Treatment for Premature Ventricular Contractions
Antiarrhythmic medications used for Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCs) primarily function by modulating cardiac ion channels to stabilize myocardial excitability and conduction. Class I agents block sodium channels to reduce phase 0 depolarization, decreasing ectopic ventricular activity, while Class III agents prolong repolarization by blocking potassium channels, increasing the refractory period to prevent abnormal automaticity.

I went down from a 23% pvc burden (pre mitral valve surgery) to 14% on mexilitene. Switched to flecainide 3 months ago and now I’m down to 7.7% (only 2% of that are pvcs at that) I may need tweaks in the future, but it definitely helped me a lot.

Hi Dizzy, I had that same B&W doctor for a second ablation last year. She really is excellent. And her partner was "Dr Rob" with an Irish accent. Unfortunately the second one did not work for me and things stayed at 20% unchanged. But I'm 60 and they...View more

Thank you. My heart was damaged by an autoimmune condition. I’m not eligible for ablation so they had to go the drug route. They tried several things until the amioderone. I don’t remember the name Multaq but they may have tried that. They amioderon...View more
