Treatment for Premature Ventricular Contractions
Antifungal agents are not used to treat Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCs); however, certain antifungals like fluconazole can inadvertently affect cardiac electrophysiology by inhibiting cytochrome P450 enzymes, leading to increased plasma levels of drugs that prolong the QT interval. This off-target effect may exacerbate arrhythmias but antifungals lack a direct antiarrhythmic mechanism. Therefore, they do not have primary therapeutic effects on PVCs.
