benzodiazepines
Treatment for Visual Snow Syndrome
Benzodiazepines act as positive allosteric modulators of GABA-A receptors, enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission and reducing neuronal hyperexcitability in Visual Snow Syndrome. By potentiating GABAergic signaling, they may help mitigate sensory processing abnormalities and reduce the intensity of visual symptoms through central nervous system neural network stabilization.

I’m on Nortriptyline and Emgality. I use Klonopin to help with the anxiety from the vision I now have as well. The “benzos” seem to help the most. I also use riztriptyn as a rescue med if the migraines pop up.

Clonazepam at the dosage of 2g helped people with hppd who took it. The explanation is that it agonizes the GABA-A receptors, which seem to have an overlap with visual symptoms. I, myself, have it from a prescription drug I guess, that acts on GABA...View more
